Review: Nonda Zus Smart Car Charger & Locator

So, how smart is the Nonda Zus Smart Charger & Car Locator? Time to find out.

At first look, the packaging is neatly done. The box is rather solid, not those flimsy ones we all get turned off by. You could definitely keep the box, as a little showcase to place your Nonda inside when you don’t intend to use it. Would also make a nice choice to surprise someone as a gift.

At the back of the box, you’ll see some features that will quickly tell you that you’ve got a pretty solid device in your hand. Winner of the 2016 IF Design Award, ElegantShine lighting (to enhance usability in dark environments) and military grade quality are among the most noticeable features you’ll find.

Notice the back of the box, there's something that looks like Captain America's shield? Sadly, this Nonda is not made out of Vibranium though. Now, on to the unboxing...

Alright so what you’ll be doing next, is downloading and installing the Nonda Zus app onto your smartphone. Depending on your phone, head down to your Google Play Store (for Android) or Apple Store (for iOS).

Once you have installed the app on your phone, make sure you turn on the Bluetooth setting first before signing in to the Nonda app.

Then, setup (only for your first time) your Nonda device to pair using Bluetooth with your phone. To do that, you will - well, of course need to go to your car. Stick the Nonda Zus into the cigarette lighter point and run the Nonda app so it can search, detect and pair with your phone. Take a look at the pictures below to get the feel for it.

Once you're done with the setup, the fun part begins! Exit your car, with the Nonda device left plugged in - and just go on and about with your day like you usually do. You can either leave the app running in the background of your phone, or turn it off. When you do want to locate your car, launch the app and leave it to the 'smart' charger to guide you to your car. Personally, I was impressed as I was on the 5th floor of a building and I knew that my car was parked towards the south-west direction, and true enough the app was pointing me towards the exact same location. Of course it can't tell me that it was 3 floors down, it just pointed out to the window - which, doesn't mean you need to jump out of the window to get to your car (you knew that didn't you?)

So the Nonda Zus proves its car-locating worthiness and hits the home-run for its tiny nifty package and sturdy build, reliability & accuracy; and its affordable price. One thing you need to know is for this device to work, it will leverage on 2 very important elements of your phone, the Bluetooth connection and more importantly the Network Coverage of your mobile data / WiFi connection. See, the bluetooth only pairs the device with your phone so that the app can run pointing to your very own Nonda - but at the end of the day, it's how strong your network connection is, in order for it to leverage on the GPS and search / locate your car. Being realistic, it didn't fare that well when my car was parked in a lower ground basement car-park, since there was limited connectivity - obviously I wasn't able to locate my car accurately (just like how you wouldn't have been able to check your Whatsapp or FB).

The verdict? Price wise, quality and reliability - you get a whole load than what you bargained for - 8 / 10
